Map of where we all are.
by wanderlustguy inhttp://www.frappr.com/xjws .
don't know if this is done already, but here is a pretty neat way for us all to map out where we are so if anyone is travelling, they know who is in the area...if anyone thinks this is a good idea, feel free to click and update!
edited to add...it has chat, too.

Is There Anything After Death?
by Life Is Grand ina close friend of ours passed away last week-only 41 years old- from cancer.
it was truly the saddest funeral i have ever attended.
his wife was a mess, and their two little boys were being so brave for her-it was absolutely heartbreaking.. anyways, the minister giving the funeral service talked about how he is in a "better place" now, and it really started me thinking.

It sounds like you are very much at peace with the whole life/death issue. I think that's great.
Hopefully I can reach that place someday....and perhaps these thoughts I am having are just because this funeral has opened some old wounds up.

I agree with you 100% Scully-as long as you are lucky enough to live to a half decent age...I just wonder about people whose lives are cut so short-they never really got a chance to do all that they could have or should have in this world.
That's when I think that there must be more to it.

Anyways, the minister giving the funeral service talked about how he is in a "better place" now, and it really started me thinking. I have lost both a parent and a child, and others who are close, and I always try to convince myself that there really is something after death. I want to think that they can maybe look down from somewhere and see what is going on in the life of my family and be happy for us. But deep, deep down in my heart, I know that I don't believe this. I suppose that this is due to being told all those years that you die, and that is all there is. I can't get past that-even after being out of the JW cult for over 20 years.
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem-the need to feel and believe that there is something more than just these few short years on this Earth...but being unable to grasp any type of belief and really, truly believe it in your heart.

Sometimes the vets are wrong. I once had a dog that was really ill-took him to the vet and they told us that if we didn't fork out hundreds of $ for an operation, he would die. We couldn't afford it at the time, so-heartbroken- basically took him home to wait for him to die. A week later, he was just fine and lived for many more years.
This probably isn't very helpful to you right now----but my point is, there is always a glimmer of hope.
Here's hoping he will be okay.

Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???
by kid-A ini have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.
how many "welcome" or "introduction" .
threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

I agree with Nowman.
I read the posts daily, but I only comment when I think I have something worthwhile to say, or when something is particularly relative to my own personal situations.(Plus, I'm afraid I'll become one of those people that kills threads-can't have that)

How much should a married woman show?
by greendawn indo you think a married woman should go out provocatively dressed?
some of my friends accept it some don't and one had big arguments with his wife about the issue until the time when he cunningly got her to become overweight something that spoilt her good looks.
think of it, a married woman going out wearing tight shorts showing so much leg and buttocks and a top that reveals too much breast, as if almost saying "i am going out to entice some men", should a dignified husband accept that?

I think it's really rotten when they tell you they'll call and then you wait, wait, wait-and they never call.
Either they SHOULDN'T say they're going to call....or they should have the courtesy to take a couple of minutes to do so....puts some closure on it so you know what's going on either one way or the other!
Sorry it didn't work out for you this time.....but you'll find something else.
